“The Lesson” screening and discussion with Elena Horn

At Magdalene College Cripps Court Auditorium, 1-3 Chesterton Rd, Cambridge. Elena Horn, a German film director with experience of working in Germany and the UK, will present her documentary “The Lesson”. At the age of 14 every school pupil in Germany is forced to confront the reality of the Holocaust, often for the first time. The Lesson follows four teenagers in a town in the Ruhr-Valley embarking on this educational journey over the course of four years. From their first naive contact with the topic in history class, to their trip to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp and into a football stadium where they are exposed to Neo-Nazi groups; this voyage proves far from simple. Elena Horn will introduce her film and engage in a Q&A session with the audience afterwards.
