Activities

The Beth Shalom Reform synagogue is host to a wide variety of Jewish community activities including:

Community & Social Lunch Club – every Wednesday, 11:30-2:30pm. Everyone welcome, please place your food order soon after you arrive, last orders 12pm. Social activities and games. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be served throughout.

Choir – Kol Echad, the Cambridge-based choir rehearses at the shul weekly. Kol Echad brings together members from all sectors of the Cambridge community, both Jewish and non-Jewish, to sing songs in Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino. The choir meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 8.00 pm. New singers are welcome – age and level of experience is no barrier.

Drama Group – If you are interested in joining the The Drama Group, whatever your talent, please contact us.

Book Group – The Jewish Book Group meets monthly by Zoom on Wednesdays at 8pm. New members and book suggestions are very welcome.

Intermediate Torah reading class meets every Wednesday at 7pm.

Beginners/improvers Hebrew reading – Meets each Sunday. The class is mainly aimed at the Gateway to Judaism group but if you’re already Jewish and haven’t had much chance to learn Hebrew you’re welcome to join. The class is for beginners who are just getting to grips with the alef-bet and some basic vocabulary.

Parashat Hashavua meets weekly on Thursdays.

Women’s Spiritual Group meets every second Wednesday of each month. Drinks and nibbles, poems and prayers in the synagogue.

Friends in Gardening – Friends in Gardening meet on the last Monday of the month in members’ homes exchanging tips and sharing seeds and plants, followed by a chat over tea and cake.
